Happy Halloween from Carmel! Now, why is this night different from all other nights you may ask? … No you probably aren’t asking, that’s an entirely different night. Nonetheless, it is still a night with much merriment, frivolity, and, at times, debauchery. Oh, and candy. Can’t forget the candy.
It is unfortunate that this occasion falls during a time when temperatures dip. How are all those sexy mice, bunnies, and subway pizza rats to keep warm? (Maybe get them a ride to the party in a Carmel car? Just a thought). Still, it is a time of year where one gets to be something that they’re not. Or, at the very least, it is a time to dress up in lingerie and show off what is left of the previous summer’s bikini body.
The night is understandably a favorite among the old and young alike. There is candy for the young and young at heart, and drinks, dancing, and maybe even a costumed tryst for those of a more mature age. Though, at some point in life, the realization that it is really all about the candy does sink in. Parities and social gathering are undoubtedly fun, but eventually, Halloween will always circle back to the candy.
Most people foster wonderful memories of trick-or-treating as children. Piling your treasure high, making trades with your siblings, both of you thinking that you’re getting the better end of the deal. And parents sneaking that Reese’s when they think that no one is looking. Picking out your costume was one of the most important events. It was a crucial and important decision that could not be taken lightly. This was Halloween after all!
As adults, some still take costume preparation as seriously as they did as children. They are the ones that win costume contests and begin their costume construction in September. Hats off to you and your costume skills. Then there are the adults that throw a half-assed attempt together an hour before the party to which they are being reluctantly taken by their friends. But that is the beauty of the occasion, you can be as detailed or a simple as you like, it is all in good fun.
Dressing up in costume gives adults the chance to step out of their comfort zone. This is a day where their inner child gets to shine. The rest of the year is filled with bills, jobs, and responsibilities. Halloween is a night of pure, child-like fun. It is the perfect occasion to bring your fantasy life into fruition without the risk or fear of judgement and ridicule. There are parties big and small all over this city with costumes ranging from the sexy to the clever, the complicated to the simple, and the singles to the large groups. What a perfect time to dress up with your significant other in a manner so cute that others will be sickened by how adorable the two of you actually are.
Time gets away from us, and we become so consumed by our adult lives. But tonight, we all get to be children again. The costumes may be shorter, tighter, and sexier, but the idea is still the same. You get to play dress-up, and dress-up is really really fun. Make your fun a little bit easier and safer, and treat yourself to a Carmel Car to and from the party.
