Comments Off on Patriot Day – Celebrating the Memories of those who left us on 9/11

Patriot Day is held each year on September 11 to honor the sacrifice of nearly three thousand victims of the September 11, 2001, terrorist attacks. Each year, America dedicates this day to remembering the departed souls, the first responders, and the fighters who took risks to save others from this grave incident.

For many, September 11, 2001, started like any other day. The business day was usual for New Yorkers on their way to work while children attended school. New York was on the move, and life seemed normal. Yet, when the first reports on the World Trade Centre broke out, New York was numb, broken, and harmed. There was chaos on the streets and in the neighborhoods of the Big Apple.

The uncertainty and magnitude of this attack were too much for the city of dreams to fathom. The terrorists-controlled planes rammed into the twin towers, the global pride of our city and America.

While those in the towers faced a critical life threat, the ones on the ground faced disbelief, confusion, predicament, and sadness as they could do nothing but be silent spectators to the unfolding events.

When a third plane attacked the Pentagon, it was high alert around the nation. Something unprecedented was rocking the foundation of America and its major strength, courage.

Patriot Day is a public holiday in New York City where the observance of respect and honor is done. The incident may have crushed our nation, but it won’t break our spirits to live on with the memories of the 9/11 Bravehearts.

New York City organizes marathons, events, tours, and concerts. Carmel Limos New York City honors those who left us by offering seamless riding services across the city. In addition, our mobile app offers special discounts at selected shopping and dining destinations around the city.

You can take a roundtrip to any of these events or book a multipoint pickup and drop service with Carmel Limos to avoid delays or last-minute hassles.

In this blog, we’ve curated a list of events and venues to celebrate Patriot Day with friends and family. So, give it a read and tell us where you’d like us to drive you on September 11.

Events to Honor the 9/11 Victims

The New York Historical Society

The New York Historical Society will organize a series of films and installations to honor the victims for art lovers. These collations will represent the horrors collectively faced by New Yorkers that have gone down in history as the most testing times.

The experience will demonstrate the first-hand experiences of citizens, and the relics that survived the incident, like a damaged firetruck, candles, notes, memorabilia, and photos of the departed will be displayed. Additionally, survivor narrations will be organized to get a near-real experience of the pain inflicted upon the citizens of New York.

An audio tour will be organized to resonate with the theme of recovery and resilience. It will highlight how New York City bounced back from the terror strikes and stands tall today. One of the primary features will be a film played in the auditorium adopted from the “Here Is New York” archives. It uses about 175 gathered images that are a part of soliciting photographs of the incident from citizen and professional photographers and exhibited in SoHo after the 9/11 attacks.

The incredible archive reflects the experience of that day and the days that followed. In addition, the works look closely at the attacks themselves, including the collapse of the buildings, the fall of victims, the terror of the people, and the heroic rescue efforts.

Another special installation is the Rescue-2 crushed rig from the incident that highlights the heroism of FDNY, one of the first units to respond on 9/11. Overall, the installations will be very emotional and a moving experience that recalls the dire situation in the city at that time.

Book a Carmel Limousine through our mobile app to participate in this memorable experience at 170 Central Park West, New York.

The Daffodil Project

New Yorkers for Parks have been planting daffodils around the city for the last two decades. Every year, this massive volunteering effort involves up to four million New Yorkers planting flowers.

In 2001, after the 9/11 attacks, Hans van Waardenburg, a Dutch Daffodils supplier, gifted a million bulbs to the city to honor the martyred. Since then, over eight million daffodils have been given out for free and planted by volunteers every fall.

This year, on the 21st anniversary of 9/11, the number of bulbs planted around the five boroughs will double. The project also honors those lost in the COVID-19 pandemic. Carmel Limos will be your riding partner for this event, where we’ll be offering discounts and special rates to reach the venue.

St. Paul’s Chapel Commemoration

St. Paul’s Chapel, or the “Little Chapel that Stood,” is located across from the World Trade Center that was destroyed on 9/11. It was a sanctuary of relief for workers and survivors during and post the terrorist attacks, where they could rest and pray.

Millions of visitors go here every year to pray for the departed souls. At precisely 8:46 am, when the first plane crashed into the North WTC Tower, the Bell of Hope rings at St. Paul’s in a pattern of five strikes repeated four times.

A tradition where firefighters salute the fallen is carried out. Simultaneously, the change bells of Trinity Church toll. Choir and other prayer activities happen throughout the day after the doors open at 8 am.

Tour of Ground Zero and the 9/11 Memorial

In memory of the events of 9/11, this guided tour of Ground Zero and the 9/11 Memorial offers a walkthrough of the space where the World Trade Center once stood. Tourists can get a deeper understanding of the incidents that unfolded on that day from professional narrators.

In addition, you can access the 9/11 Museum and the One World Observatory for panoramic views of the city. Select from either the morning or afternoon departure times. The museum has memorabilia, and the remnants of the attack are displayed for public view with information attached to the artifact.

The tour starts with visiting St. Paul’s Chapel, New York’s oldest building. Next, you’ll be taken to the Oculus, the external structure of the World Trade Center Transportation Hub with the subway entrance and an extensive shopping arena. Next, the guide will narrate the heroic stories of the emergency responders at the FDNY Memorial Wall.

The fourth location you’ll visit is the One World Observatory at the apex of the tallest building in the Western Hemisphere. You can spend over an hour soaking in breathtaking views of the city and remembering the victims of 9/11. Next, visit and pay your respects at the twin reflecting pools at the 9/11 Memorial.

You will also see the iconic “Survival Tree,” a Callery pear tree that stood tall after the ordeal and symbolizes American resilience.

Carmel Limos is the most convenient way to reach this venue with hassle-free bookings on our mobile app. We’ve been awarded the most reliable essential service provider in New York City. We offer SUVs and minivans for large groups and sedans for smaller groups for this tour.
