It was a dark and stormy morning… Alright, more like a cloudy morning with some light drizzle to moderate rain. But it is so much easier to convince oneself that staying in bed is ideal when described in darker and scarier terms. Plus moderate rain hardly has the same ring as… a dark and stormy morning.
Either way, on a cold and rainy Saturday, bed is the optimal place to be. Rain is always best enjoyed from a warm, dry place, and preferably from under a blanket with a warm beverage. Watching raindrops fall can be therapeutic and beautiful. From the comfort of your bed, you can gaze out the window at the damp, wet earth. The steady sound of falling drops upon your window slowly lulling you back to sleep. A perfect Saturday morning activity.
With no commute to work (for most people, sorry service industry. But it’s raining, so call Carmel, you don’t want to get wet!), a rainy day can be spent in-of-doors. It is optimal time to crack open that book or newspaper. The constant noise of falling rain remains in the background, a beautiful little reminder that you do not have to go outside.
On a rainy workweek, oh, how the rain is terrible! In a place like New York, one must be careful to avoid injury to the eye with every passing umbrella. Cars and buses fly past, sending a tsunami of street water toward the sidewalk onto the unsuspecting passersby. The world seems to slow down in the rain. For an occurrence that has been happening for thousands of years, we still do not function particularly well in it. And let’s not even think about the impact of snow… at least not until it is here.
The only thing that you need to think about is your relaxing Saturday, spent inside and assuredly dry. So put on the coffee, grab a book, and settle in, it’s going to be a good day.
Unless you do need to leave. In which case, you better call Carmel, or maybe just open your Carmel app from under that blanket. We will assure a quick, warm, and dry ride wherever the weekend takes you!
